Interview:
✧ In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.
A conflict of will and happenstance in becoming an adult; a post-bildungsroman responding to dating simulation video games in general.
✧ What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?
Tokimeki Memorial. We wanted to make a game that responded to an implied instrumentalization of non-player characters in games where the authenticity of an intimate experience seemed its object.
✧ What were some of your most memorable moments from making this game? What did you learn from those moments?
I loved each moment I got to work with my team!! We played so many board games from genres I'd never played before and learned so much about myself in the process :)
✧ Talk about your teammates! What was everyone's role?
I mostly did all of the graphic design and named all of the cards, I also wrote all the character sheets for all the main characters and wrote all of the flavor texts!
My co-designer Phyrex handled much of the nitty gritty of the rules, while my co-designer Zoey facilitated a lot of integration of newer ideas and features into our system. We all put pretty even hours and long nights editing the cards by hand to get them to where they are now.
Finally, our character artist Yin did all of the character designs and spearheaded the visual aesthetic!
