What if the existence of a video game was inextricably bound to its physical shape? This project presents a video game that escapes its electronic boundaries and exists neither in the digital nor the physical, but in the intersection of the two: a collection of digital works that come alive on a sculpture that is both expression and obstacle.

Interview:

✧ In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.

PAIZO, ERGO SUM is an exploration of struggle and making-do, played on the intersection of a collection of digital works and a real-world sculpture built from the mementos and remnants of an arduous journey.

✧ What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?

PAIZO, ERGO SUM was born from asking too many questions. Can I make a video game that is limited to having only one copy in existence? Can a video game be made so it is inextricably linked to the space it occupies in the real world? Could I bring together video games and sculpture as fine arts?

✧ What were some of your most memorable moments from making this game? What did you learn from those moments?

I can't remember any special ones, this project was a slow climb towards it's completion.

✧ Talk about your teammates! What was everyone's role?

This was a solo project.
