Thinky games collide with film noir in “The Sinner of the Closed Set.” A man awakens at a film shoot with no memory except for a growing sense that everyone's life is in danger. Every face he meets hides secrets; every corner harbors clues of deception. Can you unravel the mystery before it's too late?
Interview:
✧ In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.
We present you with a non-exhaustive list: Connection, Assimilation, Power, Punishment, Meaning of Death/Life, Suspicion, Judgment, Temptation, Americana, Colonization, Western Values, Crime
✧ What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?
Our inspirations include film noir/noir fiction, as well as games in the "narrative deduction" genre such as Return of the Obra Dinn, The Roottrees are Dead, and The Case of the Golden Idol. Thematic resonances between the 1950s and the 2020s are big parts of our reasoning for "why this game now."
✧ What were some of your most memorable moments from making this game? What did you learn from those moments?
Most memorable moment: sitting in the small conference room destroying white boards with story ideas
✧ Talk about your teammates! What was everyone's role?
