Interview:
✧ In one or two sentences, describe the main themes present in your game.
Whalefall explores survival within oppressive systems, serving as a commentary on the prison industrial complex.
✧ What was the inspiration of the game? What made your team decide to make this game specifically?
The team is super passionate about survival horror and wanted to explore a hydra-inspired cloning mechanic that we had never seen in a video game before.
✧ What were some of your most memorable moments from making this game? What did you learn from those moments?
Showcasing our game at Game Developer's Conference in San Francisco was one of the most memorable moments during development. The booth got so packed that we stepped away for a bit, and when we came back, a random player was explaining the game’s mechanics (and the known bugs) to everyone else standing around playing/watching. It was incredibly rewarding to see so many people connect with our game.
✧ Talk about your teammates! What was everyone's role?
